Last night we had a lovely family birthday party for my gorgeous 6 year old niece. It was a really happy birthday tea and we all had a lovely time. She was delighted with the Wheelies that we got her and she didn’t take them off from the moment she put them on!
Tuesday is normally my yoga class and so I had to give it a miss. Normally on a Wednesday morning I feel so stretched out from Yoga that I found myself missing that lovely feeling this morning.
Rather than ignoring the feeling of wanting to look after my body I have worked some great stretches and strengthening exercises into my day. I am used to fitting mindfulness meditation into my daily activities and doing the same with yoga is great too.
As I waited for the horses to finish eating their breakfast I stood tall, tucked my tail bone under and turned on every muscle in my body. This is a great strengthening exercise and is so simple to do. You need to focus to keep everything switched on.
As I sat at my desk I stretched my legs and feet out. I pointed my toes as much as I could and then flexed my feet so that I stretched out through my heel. As I did this I really was in the moment feeling the stretch and focusing on how far I could take it. Perfect, mindfulness and Yoga in one go!
As I sat to do my meditation I was cross legged on the floor using all of my core muscles to allow me to sit up straight. Doing this for 15 minutes is a real work out!
So daily life really does open up the opportunity to fit some yoga type exercises in. If you stay in the moment whilst you stretch and strengthen then you really do get enjoyment and satisfaction from often small movements. By focussing on the moment you get so much more out of it physically too.
On a Revitalise Day Retreat you will experience all sorts of ways to be present in the moment. When you are present in the moment you enjoy everything, birthday parties, mindfulness and yoga. Give it a go! Mindfulness really could help you fit more into your life.
