My Mum is amazing with all of her grandchildren. She always seems to know the right thing to do and say when she is with them.
At the moment we have family visiting from Australia and despite not having seen Mum in person for ages she has connected with the children so quickly. She finds just the right activity to get them enjoying time with her. Whether it is zooming down the zip wire at the park with them, drawing, or picking blackberries, she always spots the way forward.
Of course she has had lots of practise, having has me and my sisters. More than this though she has the presence of mind to reflect.
With Grandchildren it seems that perhaps we take a step back from the hectic nature of parenting, and because of this we see more clearly.
It strikes me that this is the same principle that is at work in Mindfulness. With Mindfulness however we can apply this new way of thinking and acting to every area of our lives.
Rather than jumping in and making mistakes we can learn to watch and wait so that we get things right more often. This also saves us from beating ourselves up for mistakes.
Brain training exercises are simple but done regularly they have a huge impact on our lives. Come on a Revitalise Session to lean how to start working with your mind, it really won’t take long to make a difference.
