This morning Noah, my 4 year old, was SO excited about trying the ice pops that we made, and put in the freezer, last night.
Yesterday the moulds arrived from Amazon so it seemed like a real novelty.
So at 7 am we sat on the sofa enjoying an ice pop for our breakfast!
Noah had apple juice in his and I tried out the hemp milk version. They were lovely.
As we sat and sucked on our ice poles it struck me that it was actually a very mindful experience. I also thought that they would be a great addition to any weight loss plan.
1) They force you to eat slowly. Because the ice pops are so cold you have no choice but to eat them slowly! This is great because when we eat fast we eat too much and we fail to enjoy the experience properly. Doing things slowly is great way to be mindful and to enjoy it more.
2) They take a long time to eat so if you commit to sitting still and eating one your mind and body really do get a decent period to chill out!
3) If you try and rush your ice pole by biting into it you trigger the nerves in your teeth so you get a reminder to take it slowly again. Perfect when your mind has wandered.
4) If you don’t focus on what you’re doing then you get juice/milk all over you! Another great reminder to take your time and to focus on what you are doing.
So as long as you fill your ice pop mould with something not too calorific they really could be a great snack to assist any weight loss programme.
Mindful eating is a great addition to any diet so if you fancy learning more then get in touch.
