Today I am on my first day off after a batch of night shifts.
Amazingly after so many late nights I have had a really lovely day. I went for a run this morning, then a coffee with some of my absolutely favourite people, and then later when Noah got home from school we had the best bath ever.
I ran the water hot and deep. I used my brand new Deliciously Ella products and lit a candle. It was SO LOVELY!
It is quite rare for me to find time for a long soak in the bath but today I knew I needed to look after myself.
Learning to recognise the need to look after myself is one of the biggest challenges I face. I have a habit of pushing myself until I am worn out.
Over the last few years I have been teaching myself to take it easy more often. It is TRICKY! And very difficult to remember. But when I do it I feel SO MUCH better!
Mindfulness is the perfect tool for helping me to tune in to my own body. I have learnt to stop and listen more often. I have learnt to take time to check how I am getting on.
When we are lost in busy – ness we forget that we are the most important thing to look after. If we get that back in sight then everything else falls into place. Life seems a little lighter.
Try doing something today that you know does you good. It might be a bit of exercise, some relaxation or something nutritious to eat.
Why not make it a challenge to do something good for yourself every single day…
