Since I discovered that I LOVE coffee I have had to learn the rules of caffeine consumption…
Just enough and it gives you an amazing boost.
Too much and it can make you feel sick.
Too close to bed time and it can keep you awake!
And today I went out for coffee a little to close to my snooze time.
It was kind of important for me to get a good rest because I am in the middle of a batch of night shifts so have been lacking a full nights sleep for a few days.
So I got into bed this afternoon and closed my eyes.
I always tend to meditate myself to sleep and today I did the same.
Sleep never came but I did enter into a totally relaxed state and after an hour I felt SO revived. It was certainly as good as a sleep.
Resting can be so nourishing. If you struggle to sleep, whatever the reason, then learning a simple meditation could make all the difference to how you feel.
If you have to get up for any reason I would set an alarm – that way too can relax into the exercise safe in the knowledge that you won’t miss anything that you are supposed to me up for!
Try lying on your back with your hands on your tummy.
Tune in to the rising and falling sensation of your tummy.
If your mind flits away from your breathing then gently return it when you notice.
