Today I was in a shop when I heard a lady talking to the shop assistant. They were both saying that they couldn’t get into the mood for Christmas and that they weren’t ready for it at all.
It got me thinking about how much pressure and exception there is surrounding Christmas.
The ability to be present in the moment is perhaps even more valuable at this time of year. It means that you can more easily take things as they come and enjoy the festivities to the full.
So if your mind is constantly dashing off to worry about what is coming up it could be the perfect time to get more Mindful.
Rather than starting with a Meditation perhaps try something more practical. Put a few post it notes up around your house or office to remind you just to check in with yourself every now and then. They might just say ‘me’ or ‘check’. Just something to make you remember to come back to the moment.
If you haven’t done much mindfulness then you might be amazed to see just how far off your mind is when you catch it on the wander!
