Today I had a brief chat with a neighbour, and in a perhaps typically English way I commented on how nice it was to have a bit of sunshine. I had just arrived home in my car and was enjoying the warmth of the sun on my skin.
My neighbour responded with a comment about how they had just tried to have lunch outside and they had to run for cover as heavy rain drops began to fall.
There is no doubt that the weather is very changeable at the moment. One minute we have sunshine and the next it is monsoon like rain.
In terms of Mindful living it strikes me that this is perhaps the perfect environment to live in to train ourselves to be Mindful and to live in the moment.
In simple terms learning to enjoy the sunshine when it happens means that we are living in the moment, we are Mindful. There is absolutely no point worrying about the rain that may or may not come our way. There is no point remembering rain that has already happened, it has passed by.
By working on this approach you really can gain an understanding of what it is to be Mindful.
So if you find yourself looking at looming clouds and getting fed up by our weather system try adjusting your point of view. Be pleased that the clouds are ever changing and that they never stay the same. Be pleased that they move on. Be pleased that there is sunshine in-between and enjoy it to the max whenever it appears!
