Yesterday I was passing the amazing farmhouse where we hold our Revitalise Days. It really is the perfect venue, inside it is bright, peaceful and relaxing. It looked so beautiful in the sunshine that I though I must update the picture on the poster.
People often tell me that they struggle with the issue of where to meditate. Whilst on a day retreat the venue is everything, we usually struggle to match that luxury in everyday life.
Here are my top tips for where to meditate…
1) Don’t be too picky. You do not need absolute silence to meditate. In actual fact the distraction that noises provide can be very useful tools and can help us to come back to the moment. So don’t rule somewhere out just because you won’t experience silence.
2) Make sure you have a chair that supports your back. There is nothing worse than feeling achey as you sit to focus. Make sure you can be relaxed yet upright in your chosen location.
3) Make it’s somewhere you can relax and be yourself. This may sound obvious but if you are worried about someone walking in the whole time this may occupy your mind rather than assisting in letting your thoughts settle.
So these tips should help you at home but if you fancy trying a special location for meditation book onto a Revitalise Day and come and try the beautiful farmhouse!
