This morning I delivered a Meditation session to a group of 65 teenage girls at a local school.
The girls are facing a hectic time with exams looming, choices about their future calling and decision to be made. Their head of year asked me to provide the girls with some tools to help.
I know exactly what it is like when your head feels absolutely stacked with thoughts. Worries, planning, remembering and general thinking can make our heads feel totally packed full.
As they entered the lecture theatre I could feel their tension. They were highly strung.
They sat down and I had 40 minutes to calm them and to equip them with some simple Meditation techniques that will allow them to handle life a little more easily.
I always start my sessions with a couple of minutes quiet. After just 2 minutes the level of tension in the room had reduced significantly.
After 40 minutes things had TOTALLY changed! Some of the girls drifted into sleep because they were so relaxed, the nodding heads confirmed that we had achieved more calm.
I LOVE meditation and I will tell anyone who is interested all about it. However, to really understand the benefit you need to sit and have a go. It is a feeling that you need to experience, rather than a sensation you can describe.

Set the timer on your phone for 2 minutes.
Sit somewhere comfortable but with your back straight.
Sit with your eyes closed until the timer goes off.
What could be easier?!
If you just add this mini moment of Mindfulness to your day, every day, you will notice a little more headspace and a bit less hectic-ness!
Just sitting still with your eyes closed allows your thoughts to settle.
