This morning Mum, Dad, Noah and I set off early on a lovely coastal walk. The sun was shining, the views were amazing and it felt great to be up and out.
We had such a good time walking along together, sometimes singing songs, sometimes chatting and sometimes stopping to admire the scenery. At times the cliffs and the views out to sea were quite breathtaking.
The walk wasn’t easy, there was a fair bit of climbing but we all managed it without any problems, even 4 year old Noah. Beau the poodle made very light work of it, she bounded ahead and then ran back for us time and time again.
Even Beau was tired by the end of the walk and she took the opportunity to sit for a rest when she could. When we got home we had some lunch then we all took some time to recover.
Noah had a sleep on his bed and stayed there for quite some time. Mum read her book and Dad had some time on his lap top. I decided to do a meditation.
I lay on my bed and put my hands on my tummy.
I took my attention to my hands and my tummy moving up and down with my breath.
Each time my mind wandered I took my attention back to the rising and falling sensation.
After about 20 minutes I decided I too would have a sleep.
I let my mind drift.
An hour later I woke and felt totally revived and refreshed.
If you struggle to let yourself take some time to rest during the day try this simple meditation. By allowing your body to stop for a short time you help your mind to slow down. By focussing on the breath you help your body and your mind to take some real time out.
