This morning I decided not to ride as planned because it was absolutely pouring with rain. So instead Noah and popped to the shops early on to get a Christening Present for a friend’s daughter. We had a really lovely time together. The shops were quiet because it was early and we got the best parking space, right outside the front of the shops!
On a rainy day it is so easy to be a bit grumpy, when you have one negative thought, perhaps about the weather, or plans that have gone wrong, then it can create more negative thoughts. It is almost as though they feed off each other and before you know it they have multiplied!
Fortunately the opposite if also true. If you have a positive thought, perhaps about getting an amazing parking space, then everything else seems more rosey too!
Mindfulness teaches us to get to know our thoughts by observing them. Once you become more aware of how thoughts behave you can work with them really effectively.
So if you are having a bit of a grey day create a positive thought. A great way to do this is to think what you are thankful for. Thinking of something positive will start a chain reaction in your mind. Before you know it lots of things will seem to be positive and your mindset will have lightened.
Give it a go, making life seem lighter is well worth the small amount of effort it takes to find a positive!
Come on a Revitalise Session to see how you could get your thoughts in better order – the techniques are simple, you might just need pointing in the right direction.
