For the last few weeks we have been away on a very hot holiday in Vietnam. The temperatures were in the high 30s and so hitting the pool and the beach in our swim wear was the best option.
As I was lying on the beach one day looking out to sea I started to think about how much our appearance can bother us.
I am self conscious about how my breasts are after having had a child and breast fed. In my mind they certainly aren’t as good as they were! I can see where the skin has stretched and never quite returned to how it was. When I was in my bikini I often found myself checking my top was in place, worried about how I would look if not.
Everyone has different body worries but we are all our own worst critics. What ever our shape and size we all have bits we would love to change. This applies to men too, perhaps more than we would think.
Start to notice how often your thoughts turn to your appearance. Each time you notice that you have a thought about your appearance give it that label – ‘Thought’. Then move on. This way you have noticed it and dealt with it and then you are able to move on with life.
By noticing the thought and acknowledging it you will see how it has less power over you. You take back control and notice that a thought is just a thought. Thoughts pass and dealt with in the right way there is no need for them to linger or for us to dwell on them. Instead we can get on and enjoy life.
Beauty really does come from within. So if you can settle your mind and find more happiness then this will shine through and you will look great on the outside too.
