Today Noah went strawberry picking at our local strawberry farm with his Nanna Sue. He came back full of smiles and holding a huge punnet of beautiful red strawberries. Perfect!
He was so proud to bring such a big basket full of lovely fruit home and it got me thinking about the things we do that make us feel good.
Here are my top 3…
1) Giving. Noah’s experience was made all the better because the whole time he was picking he was focussed on getting Martyn and I a full basket full to bring home. He knows how much we love fruit. It was hard work for him picking so many but it really is amazing what you can achieve when you have a grateful recipient in mind!
2) Eating well. Noah absolutely loves fruit and being able to eat whilst he was picking made the work much more enjoyable. Because strawberries are such a great thing to eat there was no need to restrict him, he could snack his way through his time on the strawberry farm. Eating healthy food is great because there is no feeling of guilt attached, even when you eat far too many! Making a few simple swaps in your diet can make all the difference to your eating habits. Swap complex carbohydrates like cake and biscuits for fruit and see how much better you feel.
3) Sharing great company. Noah loves spending time with his Nanna Sue and Uncle Ray. They always give him a lovely day when he goes to see them. Because he is so happy when he is there he is easy to be with. Because he is easy to be with they enjoy having him. Happiness really does rub off. Doing nice things with the people you love has to be the best of all.
Think through the things you do in your day that make you happy. Stopping to take stock every now and then can really help. Just having an awareness of how you spend your time is often enough to make sure you fit in more of the things that make you happy.
It is so easy to live life with blinkers on, doing the jobs you need to get done without stopping to question the way you spend your time. Come on a Revitalise Day to take some time to pause. A break from the everyday hectic world is the perfect opportunity to see what you really want to get out of life. Our retreats are held in the beautiful Leicestershire village of Walton on the Wolds and they provide the perfect setting for relaxation and reflection.
