Last week I had an hour or so to spare in town whilst I was between coaching sessions. I decided to have a potter round the charity shops.
To my delight I spotted a brand new Ted Baker lap top case in Oxfam, that I LOVED!!!
I had my lap top with me so I checked and it was the perfect size too. Amazing.
I had been thinking that I really needed to get my self a lap top case for some time. I don’t take it out often but when I do I worry about scratching it in my handbag.
It got me thinking about how mindfulness can really help with successful shopping.
Learning to watch and wait is a skill that can be developed with regular meditation. In meditation the focus is often on the breath, we learn to watch the breath and to wait for the next one to start. This brings relaxation and clarity of thought.
With shopping is is easy to waste hours searching for the thing that you have in mind. If you can adapt your mindfulness then you can be patient, observe and see things clearly, as and when they arise. This is my favourite approach to shopping.
Rather than being in a hurry to buy a lap top case I waited and it appeared! Perfect. In many ways I am more delighted with it because of the way it happened.
