Yesterday my friend polly sent me this with a message saying that she thought I would like it…
She was wrong. I absolutely love it!
I am absolutely sure that success in life is all about good communication skills. There is absolutely no point being a genius if you can not communicate well with others. If you have good communication skills you can get so far without the need to be a genius.
Being nice to others is a great start in building good relations but sometimes the being nice bit can seem difficult. Especially if your natural instant is not to like the other person. Being false is never a good idea, it is so easily spotted.
So this piece of genius from Roald Dahl really takes us back to the mindful basics of good communication. Rather than just trying to be nice we actually need to have nice thoughts and then our faces will show a genuine expression that will really help with good relationships. Hopefully we will then look lovely to!
Mindfulness can really help us to become aware of our thoughts. As we learn to focus the brain we learn to notice our thoughts and then return to the focus of our attention. The next stage on from this is that we can then train our brains in terms of how we think. There are lots of meditation exercises that help with this but there are also some easy practical ones that you can do any time and any where.
Start to train your brain today…
This is such a simple exercise but I find it really makes a difference to how you are thinking. Think of the people you have spent your day with or the people you have come into contact with recently. Try and note down three things that you appreciate about each person. It might feel really hard to start with but once you get going it will become easier. Positive thoughts really are contagious. Working to create some positive thoughts will mean that other naturally occurring ones will start to flow too.
I saw my sister at lunch time so here is her list…
1) She is so generous with her time – no matter what is going for her she try to help other people.
2) She is so accommodating – she will always try and fit in with plans to make life better for others.
3) She is really thoughtful and manages acts of kindness so often in her everyday life.
I saw my nephew at the the same time…
1) He is so enthusiastic about life.
2) He is always game for a bit of fun.
3) He wants to do well in everything does.
Just writing my lists got me smiling, try it for yourself and see if you do the same when you read it back.
Come on a Revitalise Day and learn more ways to revitalise your thoughts. Stop worrying and start creating happy thoughts. Life will get better from the moment you start to be mindful.
