Noah and I love smoothies. Yesterday our friend Robin left us a bag of spinach hanging on our front door which was great. He has an allotment and had some to spare so we leapt at it when he offered to drop some off. We woke this morning and Noah said he wanted a smoothie for his breakfast so it seemed the obvious first ingredient for today’s smoothie.
We have a jar of ginger in the fridge, it’s pink and pickled, I think we got it from the Chinese Supermarket and it often comes in handy for smoothies. A really lazy way of adding this amazing flavour. As always we had plenty of tinned apples in so we whizzed the apple, ginger and spinach with a few frozen blueberries and a bit of ice. Perfect.
To make it even better we had friends round so we could share it. Helen, Evie, Anya and Cath loved it too. Served with a dish of rice cakes flavoured with apples it was great, Noah and Anya even tried a bit of dipping.
Sharing your healthy habits with others can really be a great motivator. It can help you to stick to your plans to eat well. Having a positive experience with a healthy snack can put you in a good frame of mind. It can encourage you to try new things, to be more adventurous.
So our healthy day continued when we were invited out for tea and cake with our lovely friend Bryonny. Totally fat, dairy and gluten free fruit cake awaited us this afternoon.
Another great chat with lots of recipe ideas involved. Being on a diet with seemingly so many restrictions it is worth it’s weight in gold when you have great friends who will join you on your journey to love the food that’s good for you.
