When we practise Mindfulness Meditation we create periods of peace and calm in our day. It can seem as though we are freeing up headspace and this is an amazing feeling that opens up all sorts of opportunities.
When we make some more headspace we create the type of mind that is open to being more creative. Ideas have the space to flow and we have the ability to see clearly and to act on them.
The other day I read a peace about Mindfulness Meditation and it really struck a chord with me. It went something like this…
Imagine a room full of adults who have been set a problem to solve.
They are talking nosily and ignoring each other. They are all keen to get their point of heard.
There is a child in the room who knows the solution but against all of the adult voices they can not be heard.
The confusion continues without the answer being heard.
This is exactly what your mind can be like when it feels hectic. When lots of thoughts are going on one after the other then finding the answer that you need can seem impossible.
If you take the time to be still and to let the thoughts settle then so often the answer will become clear. You will be more focussed and receptive to the answer when it pops up. Amazing!
Try this simple Meditation to open your mind and to create some head space.
Try sitting upright in a chair with your back straight.
Set a timer for 5 minutes.
Close your eyes.
Allow sounds to come in and out of your awareness.
Notice how they come in to your awareness, stay a while and then fade away.
When the timer goes off slowly have a stretch and open your eyes.
By allowing your mind some time to slow down and to focus on the outside world you will open your mind to the world around you. When you open your mind the inspiration comes fast and you are in the perfect receptive state to make the most of it.
