Today I bought an electric blanket. I often work late at night and when I finally get to bed it is cold cold cold!!!
When we got home I was so excited to get into a warm bed for a snooze! I worked late last night and needed to catch up.
It was so LOVELY! Such a treat.
I was in bed for about 2 hours. Despite this I didn’t fall asleep. I think a large Starbucks coffee earlier on had my mind in a state that was too alert to drift off.
Rather than getting frustrated by the lack of sleep I used my attentive state of mind to Meditate. So I focussed on my breath and every time my mind wandered away I bought it back to the sensation of breathing in my body.
When I got up a bit later on I felt so refreshed. I felt like I had a blank canvass – certainly a bit more headspace.
If you sometimes have trouble sleeping then Meditation could be a great tool to allow you to make the most of rest periods.
