Today I delivered a Resilience training session. Resilience is all about our personal ability to bounce back from the events that come along in life to challenge us.
It always does me good in terms of personal reflection when I deliver a session explaining the elements that increase our Resilience.
All sorts of factors combine to create Resilience. Building our awareness of the things that are currently impacting on how we feel is a great start to cultivating our resilience.
Recently I have been trying really hard to leave my iPhone alone more. I really do become addicted to it and learning to leave it in another room is a challenge for me.
It is a challenge that is well worth taking on. When I have my phone with me I am constantly distracted. I get sucked into it. When I am distracted by my phone so much attention is taken away from what is going on around me. This means I get frustrated with myself which increases my stress levels.
When I leave it alone I am so much more focused and my mind is more peaceful. Rather than constantly being pulled in different directions I get some calm and clarity. I feel like I can cope with almost anything.
Resilience is never fixed. It is a constantly changing situation which is dependant on our current habits and the life that we are living at that time.
Reflecting regularly on our habits is a great way to keep on top of our well being and to make it our priority more often.
Have a think for a moment about the things that you are doing well and that you are feeling the benefit of. Commit to continuing with them.
Now think about the things that are making life more difficult for you at the moment. See if you can commit to making a change. Even the smallest of changes can make a big difference.
Just taking the time to reflect will help you to take positive steps to make life a little lighter and you a little happier!
