This morning I pestered my Mum to come for a run with me.
The weather was less than perfect! It was drizzly and a bit chilly. BUT we had a lovely time.
It felt great to be out in the fresh air. When I got back I felt so good. I was pleased to have done some exercise first thing.
On a rainy day getting out the door to exercise can be a real challenge. It is so easy to get caught up thinking about how cold it will be, and how much nicer it might be to stay indoors! But this is a mental block you can overcome.
Mindfulness is the key!
Keeping in the present moment is a great way to make the motivation more possible.
Each time your mind wanders to worrying or dreading or any there unhelpful thoughts simply bringing your attention back to the here and now. Check in with yourself and realise that everything is ok. This way you break the cycle of negative thinking and allow yourself to overcome the block. Getting out there is the way to feel great.
This tactic works well when you are getting ready and it works when you are actually out in the elements.
Give it a go and enjoy the benefit of more activity!
