Today I went to a yoga class before I started work. I LOVED it.
I warmed up in no time, pushed myself out of my comfort zone and got out of breath, and then loved the relaxation too. It was an all round winner. It was also great preparation for work.
My mind relaxed all on its own as I put my body through it’s paces. There was a particular moment when I realised this had happened.
I had just stretched back into Child’s pose after a hard section of Plank and Downwards Dog. As I came to rest in this position I was super aware of my breath. It was the only thing that my attention went to. AMAZING!
Physical exercise can help you to get to a calm state of mind. Sometimes focusing completely on your physical activity can take your mind away from all of the other distractions. Holding a tough pose in yoga seems to be the perfect way to get your attention there in the moment.
