This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and because of this my services as a Mindfulness Coach have been in high demand.
So, it is really quite ironic that on a week where we promote looking after our mental health I am more hectic than ever!
Today I have delivered 5 hours of Mindfulness and Meditation coaching. I have taught 130 year 10 students at a local high school and will shortly move on to a family focussed session at a nearby community centre.
Despite the need to plan the logistics carefully and be organised I have actually really enjoyed every single session and have relaxed totally in each session.
Mindfulness really is the most amazing tool. Even when life is busy, the ability to meditate if even for a few minutes, makes all the difference to our staying power and energy levels.
So if you have a hectic schedule on the go try this simple meditation…
Set a timer for a period that you can set aside.
Sit with your back straight, feet flat on the floor and hands on your lap.
Take a few deep breaths. In through the nose and out through the mouth. Getting as much oxygen in as possible will help your mind and your body to function properly.
Let your breathing return to normal.
Focus on that sensation of the air entering and leaving your body. In through your nose and out through your mouth.
Then imagine that your whole body is breathing.
As you breathe in your whole body fills with air, as your breathe out the stale air leaves your whole body.
Each time your mind wanders bring your attention back to the breath again.
When your timer goes off allow yourself to come slowly back to the present, open your eyes and enjoy the feeling of calm and revitalisation that you have experienced.
If you need more revitalising tools book onto a session of Meditation and Mindfulness coaching. Some simple techniques could really give you a good coping mechanism that could save the day, time and time again.
