Yesterday I delivered a training session at a busy legal office. It was ‘An Introduction to Mindfulness’. Most of those who came had never meditated before.
I told them how amazing I found meditation and then I led a meditation so they could experience it for themselves. Often this is exactly what we need to do. We did a simple body scan and then some focused breathing to improve concentration.
One lady said to me that she always has a pain in her neck, always. She had it when she came into the room but by the time she had finished the meditation the pain had gone. She was so pleased, so was I. There is nothing I love better than for someone else to see the amazing benefits of relaxation and mindfulness so quickly.
Two others emailed me later on to tell me how focussed they had been following the session, completing work that had been bothering them all week, another sort of pain in the neck! When we meditate we relax our whole being, our body and our mind. This is such a rare thing for many of us to do that when we have a go, we see a huge benefit straight away.
