Mindfulness and Meditation are used interchangeably and sometimes this causes confusion. The thing is if you sit to Meditate regularly then you do become more mindful. It is a process that unfolds.
Mindfulness is about the every day. Its about remembering to come back to yourself when your mind starts racing. Its about noticing how you feel in the moment. Its about living every moment rather than being lost in thought.
I have recently started planning a Mindfulness session for an event by Overcoming MS and it got me thinking about the start of my journey.
When I got diagnosed with MS Mindfulness was just what I needed…
The trouble was I had never Meditated and I was MINDLESS.
I was literally SICK with worry – lost in thought about the future and my mind was constantly focussed on how things would be, my worst fears were living in my head.
Starting to Meditate when all this worry was in my mind was not easy…but it was POSSIBLE.
And it saved me.
It allowed me to enjoy life again and to live for the moment rather than living in a world of anxiety.
To get past that world of worry you need a plan and you need to stick to it.
A commitment to Meditate each day was perfect. It was proactive and it allowed me to know that I was doing something to sort my situation.
Gradually I found more moments of peace. Slowly moments of Mindfulness started to creep into my day. Now my days is full of moments of appreciation and happiness. Over time worries about MS have simply faded away. I know I am doing everything I can. I know that I am well.
If you are struggling with something, ANYTHING, then Meditation could be a great starting point…
Keep it simple.
Commit to a few minutes to sit still and focus on your breath each day.
Before you know it you will find that you are so much more aware of the moment.
You will find that you are enjoying life as it happens.
Give it a try you could be HAPPPY and worry FREE.
