Today Anna Forster, our RD Yogi, presents her first, TOTALLY inspired, blog…
When I first started my Yoga Teacher Training. My teacher, Anne-Marie Newland started the class by saying over and over again…
Open your eyes.
Open your eyes.
Open your eyes!
But we were told to listen to this with our eyes closed.
These 3 simple words were said to remind us to open the mind.
Over the course of the next 3 months, we were going to experience the unexpected; a life-transforming process.
Open our eyes to look within – were we open as well as willing to accept the change?
Our vision is shaped not so much by what we see, but what we think we see. Our perspective on life changes with our mindset. And this is what mindfulness is all about!
By practising yoga and mindfulness, we give ourselves the skills to understand what is important in life, and we learn to let the things that aren’t important go.
For example, when Alex asked me to write for her blog, I saw it is a wonderful opportunity to share my love of yoga, which I hope will help others as it helped me. I was honoured that Alex asked me and thankful that she was so open to changing her website.
Whereas, had I had a negative mindset, I would have worried about what to write, been cautious to share for fear of being judged, maybe seen it as a burden writing the articles and not wanted to let her down.
Humans are naturally programmed to self-doubt and so there will always be a little piece of you that will worry about these things. Mindfulness and yoga can help keep these thoughts in check and we can learn to make the positive ones more so, which can help us to be open and aware of what is happening around us in life.
Practising yoga and mindfulness can make us aware of the opportunities available and less scared to try them.
You never know – one day, if you just give it a go and open your eyes, new opening could be just around the corner!
Our Sunday Chillouts are the perfect opportunity to see how yoga and mindfulness can transform your life.
The next date is on the 30th October – come along to open your eyes to a whole new perspective!
