Yesterday I went to my friend Steph’s house for a party.
She set up a Resolution Drop. She asked everyone to write their resolution down on a piece of paper and then put them in a box. Later on the resolutions were read out and everyone had to guess who had made it. Totally entertaining!
I loved the fact that this game got people thinking but also added a bit of comedy to an otherwise somber subject.
Resolutions can start to become serious and often they become focussed on the negative if we aren’t careful. We can start to list all of the things that we aren’t going to do as we leave the festive period behind. Adding a bit of humour is a great way to avoid our thoughts becoming overwhelming.
Whilst I was thinking about all of this it struck me that actually this could be a great resolution – to look for the humour in every situation.
Life can get too serious. Leaning not to take everything so seriously is a great way to make life seem a little lighter. Even in the darkest of moments we can find something to make us smile.
Mindfulness is a great tool in learning to change our perspective on life. If you fancy a new approach with this new year then book onto a Revitalise Session to get started.
