My lovely big horse Dexter and I have had been firm friends for over 20 years. He is now 25 and for the last year or so his age has started to take its toll. He has developed a real stiffness in his legs and his back and recently he had started to seem a bit grumpy.
I have recently changed my working pattern which means I have a lot more day time free. So last week I called the vet to come for a visit and check old Dexter out. She prescribed him with some pain killers and this morning was the time to see the effect.
The farrier came and put Dexter some new shoes on and then we went for a ride. He really did seem 10 years younger. He was full of beans and raring to go. AMAZING!
My new working life means that I have a much better work life balance. This has freed up more time for the things I really love and value outside of work. Dexter has ben the first one to benefit with the spring added to his step! I have had the time and clarity of mind to properly address his problems. I can’t wait to see who else benefits from my new way of life!
If you feel your work life balance leaves a little to be desired then perhaps consider Mindfulness as a good place to start. Mindfulness allows you to see life clearly and to do the things you need to do to make yourself happy. The changes may be simple but identifying the right change is the key.
