Tonight I went to our yoga class with the lovely Anna (far right).
Anna has so much enthusiasm for the yoga that she teaches that it is contagious, it really does rub off on everyone at the class, we give it our all and we all feel great for it.
Tonight the class was all about energy, the energy in the room, the energy in the moves and the energy that we can breathe into our bodies.
In our class are lots of mother / daughter duos! My mum and I go together, Hollie and Emma (in the photo) go together and Anna’s mum is in the class too. It is clear we are all really close to our mums and we absolutely love exercising together.
It got me thinking about how mindfulness, our energy levels and our relationships are all linked.
Today my mum and I went for a coffee together. Mum was tense to start with, worrying about leaving her dog at home. Beau, her poodle had a poorly foot and was feeling a bit frustrated by her lack of exercise. Mum was worried about her chewing things whilst she was out and she couldn’t relax for a while. I on the other hand was feeling lovely and calm having just done my meditation. By the end of our time together mum had chilled out, it seemed like our energy had almost equalised and we were certainly more in tune!
Emma was telling me that her and Hollie have been going out running together in the mornings. She said that Hollie wakes her up bright and early ready to go. Here Hollie’s energy was definately passing on to Emma who could happily have been fast asleep! They both felt great for having helped each other to get out and exercise.
So when our energy is passed on on a positive way everything is better. This might be by calming each other or by energising each other. Either way it can help us to feel good and means our relationships thrive.
Obviously the way we pass on our energy isn’t always so great, negative energy can be passed on too! If we can become mindful and self aware then we can make sure we are alert to this possibility and manage the risk. Often just an awareness makes all the difference to how we feel and how we behave.
