On Saturday we took Noah to our village church for a craft afternoon and Mother’s Day Service. The children made cards, arranged daffodils, made their Mums out of play doh (never flattering) and generally had Mum related fun.
During the service we talked a lot about appreciation and that things that our Mum’s do for us, I loved spending some time reflecting on this, it made me happy. For those who no longer have their Mum’s it was more difficult but it was still lovely to remember.
We were all given two mini wooden hearts. The idea is to keep one somewhere safe to remind you how much you love your mum and to give the other to your mum to remind her that you love her. So lovely.
Noah and I put our initials on our hearts and put them in a card for my Mum on Sunday. She is an amazing Mum to both of us so it seemed perfect to be able to show her that we both love her loads and that we recognise how much she looks after us both.
Having a small object that reminds you of something special can really help to keep you mindful and appreciative of the life you have. Each time I look at the hearts that we have at home I think of Mum and Noah and recognise how lucky I am.
The real challenge in making your life more mindful is to find ways to remind you to come back to the moment. If you feel as though you get caught up in your own little world, and that you forget to notice the here and now, this simple trick could work for you.
