Last night I gave talk about Meditation and my journey into becoming more Mindful.
I was describing how I started out a few years ago not really knowing what I was doing and I found I was simply sitting and being. Then I progressed onto more structured and targeted Meditation styles and I really wanted to train my brain.
In more recent times I have gone full circle and enjoyed simply sitting and tuning into the rhythm of my breathing again. I am more comfortable and confident to just be.
Each time I sit to Meditate I see how I feel and then make my decision as to what sort of exercise to do. This works so well but it took some time to get there.
I find that I surprise myself sometimes with my decisions. If life is hectic then a simple Meditation can be just the tonic. If I feel calm and on top of things then I may also chose a simple style and enjoy the ability to simply sit.
A more structured exercise can also be great when life is busy because it gives me a tool to work with my mind. This feeds a need in me to sort myself out.
The trick is to listen to your instinct and to be kind to yourself. Never feel under pressure and just do what feels right. If simply sitting and letting everything settle seems right then just enjoy it.
Enjoying your Meditation practise is SO important. If you enjoy it then you stick to it. If you stick to it you really see the benefit.
Come on a Revitalise session to see which styles suit you best.
