Today was my lovely sister’s 40th Birthday and this evening we had a family meal which was a really great get together.
After dinner a few of her friends popped in. One after the other they arrived, unplanned but so welcome.
It got me thinking about friends and how small gestures make a huge difference to relationships and a massive difference to our levels of happiness.
Taking the time to go and see a friend is a really easy and practical way to do something mindful.
Most of us live very busy lives. When we spend our days rushing round we are consumed by our own worries. When we are lost in thought making time to visit people can seem really difficult.
Giving the gift of time to others is a truly special way to demonstrate how much you care. It is also a great way to bring yourself back into the real world. Whatever is going on for you a bit of time out with a friend will do you good.
By taking a break in your day to see someone else you create a window in your own day. It will give you a chance to leave the hectic world behind and to enjoy a much more real experience, if only for a few minutes.
Try making time for someone you care about today and see how much peace of mind it brings your way. You will be amazed.
