Today I delivered a workplace Mindfulness session. 15 lawyers and caseworkers came along for an hour long ‘Lunch And Learm’ session. We covered the idea of automatic pilot which everyone was really familiar with – that whole driving to work but not remembering the journey scenario. Slightly worrying but it happens so often. So to get everyone more in the moment we did a brain training exercise to increase focus and then after lunch a body scan to relax. Perfect combination! A work out and then a cool down – all for the mind.
It was a great break in the day and everyone reported feeling revitalised afterwards which made me really happy. I got some emails afterwards telling me how much better people felt they focused in the afternoon. All round great results – just from one session.
One of my favourite feedback comments was that the session was like a holiday…but it was free…and all we needed was our ourselves.
This summed up for me exactly how I feel every day when I meditate. It genuinely feels like a treat. Sitting and just being is something we rarely do. Perhaps we only do it on a sunny holiday. So why wait until you hit the beach once a year? Do it every day and really feel the benefit!
