Because this week is World Mental Health Week it seems like the perfect opportunity to think more about the rest of the world.
Just take a moment to think through this.
Bring your awareness to yourself, see yourself in the room.
Then become aware of the whole building.
Then the town that you are in.
Then the county.
Then the country.
Then your place in the world.
Then if you can stretch your mind to this extent to your place in the universe.
By picturing yourself in this way you realise that actually you are not the centre of the universe.
This is great for a few reasons…
1) It takes the pressure off – the world carries on no matter what you do! This will help to relieve anxiety.
2) By taking the focus away from yourself and to your surroundings you take your thoughts from your own worries. This clears some headspace.
3) By remembering the rest of the world you become less selfish and more open to others. This will help you to be more generous and open hearted.
