Yesterday my lovely friend Rachael and I went to The Barefoot Festival. It is just down the road and we got some bargain tickets on Groupon.
We had the most amazing day and one of my favourite bits was completely unexpected….
We took place in an Acrobatic Yoga workshop.
We started with a simple trust exercise. In a group of 3 we stood in a line and the middle person was pushed form side to side. I went first and left my fate to Rachael and another lady who we had teamed up with. I kept my feet still and they pushed my shoulders so I went back and forth.
My limits of trust and confidence were pushed again when we did the flying exercise. Rachael held me up on her feet. So long as we both had straight arms and bodies it worked…we could do it!
Working together in a group for these exercises was the most enjoyable part of it. We were all excited to me experimenting in ways we had never thought we were capable of. Each time we achieved a new pose we were delighted.
Whilst we worked on each exercise it took our total concentration and focus, we were completely present in the moment.
Tired and pleased at the end of the session we sat outside and had a drink or two together. We were so tuned in to what we had been doing that sitting and talking it through was a great way to process and enjoy our achievements together.
Challenging your body and achieving new things is a great way to build confidence and doing it with friends means you make closer your relationships at the same time. Keeping focussed means you train your brain to concentrate at the same time so it really is a mind body workout.
Come on a Revitalise Session to learn less extreme ways to focus your Mind. Whether mentally of physically you will feel on top of the world once Mindfulness is part of your life.
