Today I took Noah and his lovely cousin to a local Party In The Park to Celebrate the Queen’s birthday.
Despite the rain we had a lovely time. The opportunity to dress up and enter the Royal Box was a highlight for the children.
Later on I was reading some of the media coverage of her birthday. One of the more light hearted articles was about the Queen’s dress sense.
#Neon@90 was one of the most common social media tweets in relation to her outfit, and it certainly was striking!
It seems that our Monarch is quite particular about her choice of outfit. She choses colours that she has fully considered and that she feels are appropriate for the occasion.
For her 90th she went neon because it would stand out amongst the crowds who gathered to celebrate with her. Apparently she will never wear green when she is to be photographed against grass or trees.
I can not begin to imagine having to plan my dress so carefully every day. It got me thinking that having to consider the scenery before you get dressed must be a real challenge!
Many of us struggle to decide what to wear to work each day. Faced with a Wedding or a Christening some of us go into panic mode until we have the outfit planned.
If you find yourself in an outfit tiz then Meditation can really help. I find if I am indecisive about something it is because my mind is a bit too hectic to think clearly. If I sit and let my mind settle then the answer appears.
If you have a dilemma going on, outfit related or not, then give this a try…
Sit upright in a chair, make sure your back is nice and straight. You want your mind and your body to be alert but relaxed.
Close your eyes to take away visual distraction.
Take some time to focus on your breath. Notice the rising and falling sensation in your body.
Each time you notice that your mind has wandered then bring your attention back to the breath.
When you notice that your mind has settled pop the question/dilemma into your mind. Just wait and see if an answer makes itself known, don’t try to find one, just wait.
This works so well for me. Getting your mind in a relaxed but focussed state means that you can see the solution that you need clearly. Do it more often and the clarity you find will amaze you.
