Last night Noah and I popped to see our lovely friend Sarah. Her partner John drinks tomato juice and Noah spotted it in the fridge and was desperate to try it as an alternative to a pure fruit juice.
I didn’t mind him having it at all, it was pure tomatoes with a little bit of salt. I have recently read that tomato juice has some great health benefits because of the lycopene in it. Lycopene is an antioxidant found in ruby and orange foods that may help lower risk of stroke, prostate cancer and metabolic diseases.
Because of my MS recovery diet I am now well in the habit of checking the labels on everything Noah and I eat and drink. The salt content may be a concern if we had too much but as an occasional it was fine.
I didn’t used to be a label reader but now I have realised how shocking it can be. Lots of foods have ingredients that you just would not expect. Taking the time to find out what you are consuming is really worth the effort and can make a massive difference to how you feel. A healthy diet leaves you energised and feeling great.
When you have a child it often gives you the incentive to me more mindful about good diet choices. We are definitely programmed to take more care over our children than we do of ourselves!
If you need some inspiration to look after your own diet better then mindful eating really could be the way forward. Taking time to think clearly from the time you do your food shopping right through to when you sit down to eat changes the whole experience.
You will be amazed at the sense of well being you feel when you learn to be mindful about your diet. When you eat well you feel good and when you are feeling good you look good. Come on a Revitalise Day to get started and you will love the whole experience. Amazing food, a beautiful location and a day of pure relaxation! Perfect.
