This morning Noah and I went into Nottingham with my mum. We went in early and missed all of the traffic, we found a parking space easily and we had a stress free trip. Perfect, and proof that even a shopping trip can be mindfully done!
I had something to return which was the main reason for the trip so I got that done first and then it was off my mind.
Whilst we were there mum and I enjoyed a bit of sale shopping, a bargain made us both feel good!
We also had a pit stop at Delilah’s Deli, recognising the need to refuel always improves things. They serve lovely fresh juices which Noah and I enjoyed and mum loved a fig based salad. There really is something to suit everyone in there and plenty of scope for nutritious, guilt free eating.
We didn’t stay too long in town, we were home by lunch time. We didn’t rush but after a while we all felt that the time was right to head home. It was one of the most relaxing trips I have ever had into Nottingham.
I think the key to our trip was that we didn’t try to do too much. We parked close to the shops that we needed to go to and stuck to a fairly small area. We didn’t trek all over town so we didn’t wear ourselves out.
The key to a good time is appreciating the experience to the full. When we don’t have any demands on us, and time allows, then slowing down and appreciating a few shops and a break is a great way to do shopping mindfully.
Slowing things down generally is a really good way to live mindfully. When we slow our bodies down it allows time for our thoughts to slow down too. When our thoughts slow we have more room to enjoy ourselves. Give it a try, whatever you are up to. You really will be amazed at the difference.
Come on a Revitalise Day to enjoy a whole day of being slow, calm, peaceful and mindful. You will relish the opportunity to take your time and enjoy some much needed head space.
