This week (as you will know if you are up with the blog) we moved house. Yesterday we were taking all of our furniture to the new house. Today was time to finish off at the old house.
Although the new house is by no means sorted, I wanted to make sure that the old house was left in a good state for the new occupants. I knew it would play on my mind if not.
Moving into the new house was SUPER exciting. I loved it. Cleaning the old house and getting rid of the last bits was not so inspiring!
As I pushed the vacuum round every room, and used every single attachment to make sure I had left it as clean as possible, I was exhausted. Then, right on cue, my Mother In Law and my Mum appeared ready to help.
I was so, so, grateful.
They cleaned the cupboards and the bathrooms whilst I vacuumed everywhere. It made such a difference.
When others jump into help I have a natural instinct to tell them that I am fine and to slog on alone – no matter how I am really feeling.
Today though, I was really happy to accept their help and truly appreciated it. I made sure I thanked them A LOT.
Learning to accept help is a challenge for me but definitely something worth working on. I am definitely going to be more mindful about doing this.
By accepting help we let others into our lives and become closer. We feel better because we don’t wear ourselves out and we cut down on mental chatter because we feel happier and more content.
Try letting others help you and then notice the difference in how you feel. You might just be amazed.
