This weekend was the Blossom ‘Half Christmas’.
The family got together at Mum and Dad’s house and we had a brilliant weekend. We spent most of the time chatting, eating and drinking. Yesterday we did a walk and the chat continued and the children played. It was great.
This afternoon everyone headed home and I was left with a really warm feeling, along with a tinge sadness that it was over for this year.
Having set the whole weekend aside for the get together we all relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company. We were all so interested to find out what had been going on since our last meet up that the time flew by. We focussed on listening to each other and had a genuine want to know the news.
I was left feeling closer to everyone and so pleased that we had made the effort to give each other some time.
Setting time aside for family is such a valuable thing to do. It is so easy for the year to drift by with only a few calls, texts or Facebook communications.
Now lots of us have children we risk missing so much if we let too much time pass by without seeing each other.
Try setting a summer date for your family to meet up. This means all the pressure doesn’t fall at Christmas time, and that you can enjoy the better weather for some outside fun together too.
Mindfulness is not just a Meditation technique but a way of living. By taking the time to focus on the people you love you improve your relationships. Good relations lead to more happiness. When you are focussed on enjoying those around you there is little room for worrying. It really does work, give it a try!
