Last night we had a few friends round for Friday Night Drinks. It was very low key but really lovely. We chattered on and on.
I had spend a couple of hours in the afternoon getting ready for the evening. Because I had plenty of time I really enjoyed it.
First I made banana cookies using some over ripe bananas and some chia seeds that I already had in. They were a total experiment but thankfully they were delicious. I then made some savoury fritters with grated carrots, courgette and brown rice four. I seasoned them with cumin and dipped in sweet chilli sauce they were perfect!
It gave me a really good feeling when everyone liked the food. As I saw them all eating more of my snacks I was genuinely really pleased!
Doing things for the benefit of others is a great way to feel good. I enjoyed the time that I was preparing because I was looking forward to seeing everyone. I also really enjoyed clearing up afterwards because I was still smiling from the lovely evening that we’d had. Amazing!
So to add some everyday Mindfulness perhaps try to think more about who will benefit from the jobs that you do. This way you can make mundane jobs much more worthwhile and rewarding.
