Today I had a few minutes to sit down and do some reading. I decided to catch up with the recent British Wheel Of Yoga magazine.
One of the first articles I got to was about Doga.
The new craze…yoga with dogs. Aside from the novelty aspect, and a lot of comedy comments about the behaviour of the dogs, there was some meaning behind the article.
Pets have the ability to be really empathetic to their owners moods and needs. My experience is really with horses. My horses certainly sense my mood and they will often just be close to me, especially if I am upset. If I am in a playful mood then they are always up for a game too. They really do sense what is going on.
Taking the time to be calm and caring towards our pets can make a huge difference to their behaviour towards us. If they learn to trust us then they will be loyal and provide real friendship, whatever the occasion.
So really the lessons that pets teach us can be perfectly reflected with other humans. Learn to be loyal and empathetic and see your relationships last the distance and grow stronger with time.
Although taking your dog to yoga perhaps seems like a mad idea at first, maybe having had a go we would all experience the lovely experience of relaxing with our pets.
I do think that perhaps yoga with the hoses may be a step too far….but maybe i’ll try yoga on my horse?!
