So today England played Wales in the European Championship. I was working whilst the game was on and if i’m honest I didn’t even realise the game was going on.
When England scored I heard a cheer from the pub across the road and then the person I was on the phone to told me what had happened.
It got me thinking about the sense of community that an England game brings. As the day went on a few more people mentioned the game to me and I heard more about it on the radio. It really opened up a whole lot of interest and conversation.
Talking to others is really great way to feel good about yourself and it really doesn’t matter what the subject matter is. The process of listening and being listened to is simple but suprisingly rewarding.
When you learn to take an interest in what is going on then it becomes one of the best ways of starting a conversation and connecting with others. When you are interested you become more interesting to others and then you feel good.
Taking an interest in something that is not the norm for you is a great experience, give it a try.
Read about something different, or listen to a podcast on something that is out of your experience. By taking a real interest your focus and attention will grow and you will find yourself present in the moment.
