This morning I got dressed up to combat the cold and cycled over to see my friend Vicky and her beautiful baby, Alex.
Vicky has a super duper baby monitor. Alex was asleep upstairs when I arrived and later on he woke and we could see him hapily rocking on his back. He didn’t cry, he just lay where he was and enjoyed the moment.
We were talking about how naturally Mindful babies are. How often do we just lie still as grown ups? If we were lying still then we would probably be lost in thought.
If you would like a bit more clear minded chill out time then Meditation could be just the thing for you.
Next time you find yourself wishing for a quieter mind in an otherwise still moment try this…
Put your hands on your tummy, just below your belly button.
Notice the rise and fall of your breath moving your hands up and down.
Try to keep your focus on this motion.
Each time your mind wanders take it back to the rise and fall.
