Tuesday night is yoga night and tonight, as always, I loved Anna’s class.
We did a longer than usual section of the class on balances tonight which was a real challenge for me. Balance has never been my strength in exercise classes.
In the past I think I have worried too much about wobbling all over and perhaps I have been self conscious.
Tonight I really surprised myself and was pleased by the balances that I achieved. It felt different.
I was thinking about it on the way home and I am absolutely sure that the difference was in my mind.
Before we got to the balances I had settled my breathing so that I was using the breath to make every move better. I was really focussed on what I was doing. I carried this calm attention into the balances.
As we were balancing Anna told us to think about where the energy in our body was. So I pushed my energy into my hands and I really felt it! As they stretched out, my core turned on, and my wobbles subsided. I managed a strong pose and held it. Amazing.
A focussed mind impacts so much on what your body can achieve. Mindfulness is a great way to improve your ability to focus. Yoga is a great way to train your body using your mind. Yoga and mindfulness really do go hand in hand.
If you are interested in the mind body connection and want to see what you could achieve then book onto one of The Sunday Chill Out sessions.
The sessions combine yoga (with the amazing Anna), meditation and mindfulness (with me) and they are aa great opportunity to devote some time to yourself and to bring yourself back into balance.
