Over the last few days I have been been meditating to music. Being a bit of a minimalist I don’t keep any CDs in the house so I have been going to You Tube and simply searching ‘Meditation Music’.
So this morning I used the You Tube music and I had a really lovely meditation. Each time my mind wandered I simply brought it back to the music. I took myself through a body scan first and then simply focused on my breath, really feeling the rising and falling sensation. I loved it.
Then this afternoon at about 4pm I became aware that my breath was shallow whilst I was working. I felt a bit tense and anxious. There was no particular reason that I could put my finger on but I knew it didn’t feel great.
Then I had a bright idea….what if I put the meditation music back on whilst I finished off at work.
Oh my goodness it was amazing!
I slipped right back into that calm and focussed state. I felt my breathing slow and my body and mind tune in to the music. I concentrated so well on my work and felt so much better.
Our bodies and minds have memories. So if you repeat the same music and the same meditation process for a few days you will slip back into it more easily. If you then come across a time of anxiety or a time where you need to calm yourself you will have the tools to do it. Perfect.
So give it a try. There are so many different ways to meditate, be mindful and to keep calm and focussed. Once you know how, life can seem so much better. Don’t live with stress and anxiety, sort it out. Come on a Revitalise Session to see how much more you could get out of life when you are mindful.
