Today I went on a Yoga Retreat Day with my Mum. My dad looked after my little boy, Noah, and so we stayed the whole day and didn’t have to rush home. Along side the yoga classes there was lots of opportunity to Meditate and relax. We took full advantage of the opportunity, it was total bliss!
There were a number of different locations for the workshops that were running throughout the day but my absolute favourite had to be the Yurt.
The Day was at Ulverscroft Manner and the Yurt was hidden away in the woods. It was a 5 minute walk through the trees to get to the Yurt, this made it feel special even before we had seen it!
Inside the Yurt there was a log burner and a carpet which kept it warm. As we all lay down to begin the Meditation session I noticed the beautiful work that made up the roof. As I relaxed into the floor I noticed how amazing it was to be pressing directly into the earth.
As we drove home we discussed the day. We both thought the Yurt was the most lovely place to meditate. It had the benefit of being outside in terms of the fresh air and the softness of the earth beneath our bodies. It had the added advantage that we felt totally safe, warm and protected from the elements.
Although the Yurt was a total treat, in terms of a Meditation environment, things do not need to be so ideal every day. Most of the time a chair and a blanket work just fine. It is however, really great to take the opportunity to try a different environment every now and then to keep things interesting.
If you feel that your Meditation routine could do with a bit of a boost come on a Revitalise session to get inspired. A few changes can make all the difference to the enjoyment that you get out of your practise. When you enjoy it more you do it more often. When you do it more often you get even more benefit! Perfect.
