Today I was on Pinterest and I decided to search ‘Meditation’. I was interested to see what would come up and to get some inspiration.
I got drawn to an attractive looking diagram which explained 5 steps for a new type of Meditation. I was lost after step 2! It asked you to picture shapes and then numbers and draw things to you and then away from you….and it went on. It was SO complicated!
I got to thinking that actually keeping Meditation simple is a great way to make it enjoyable. Trying to keep track of lots of instructions through a Meditation doesn’t usually make for a relaxing time.
Reducing anxiety is one of the huge benefits of Meditation but if we create a whole load more anxiety worrying about the Meditation technique then this just diminishes the benefit again!
So my top tip is to keep it simple. Reduce the instructions and increase the enjoyment. For me the very best Meditation is to sit comfortably and to focus on the breath. Notice the rise and fall and each time your mind wanders simply bring it back to the breath again.
For more simple techniques come on a Revitalise Session. The change to experience some guided Meditations could be just what you need.
