This week I topped up my multi vitamin supply. It got me thinking about my attitude to health. I never used to be into taking supplements and was happy that I got everything I needed from my diet. I didn’t really think about my heath, except if I was suffering with a cold or something minor. Getting diagnosed with MS changed my perspective. I appreciate my health every day. I do everything I possibly can to make sure my body gets everything it needs to repair and thrive.
Thinking about this made me realise that meditation really is like a vitamin. Once a day is perfect and it is just what you need to keep you on top form.
At times it can be tempting to use meditation like an aspirin. People often look to meditation when there is a problem or a pain to cure. It reminds me of when I get a running injury. Whilst you ache and you can’t run you are dedicated to doing the exercises from the physio but as soon as things ease off the exercises get neglected. Usually when you do this the problem comes back to haunt you.
So keep in mind this thought with your meditation practise. A little bit every day keeps things on track. Don’t wait till things go wrong to give it a go, get into a routine. Think of it as a preventative and life enhancing tool, rather than as a fix when things have gone wrong. You will be amazed at the benefits it brings into your life when you commit to doing it regularly.
Come on a Revitalise Day to help kickstart your routine and to give a real boost to your motivation. Our retreat days are held in a beautiful farmhouse in the Leicestershire village of Walton on the Wolds and it could be just the boost you need to be on top form.
