This week I have been LOVING drawing Mandalas. I have seen them lots of times but only recently started to take in interest in terms of what they actually mean or what they are supposed to do.
In the simplest form Mandalas are an ancient art of drawing patterns in circles. They can represent your state of mind by allowing the shapes to simply come to you in a reflective way. Or you can draw more purposefully to represent a state of mind that you would like to get to.
I have a note book that I have now dedicated to my Mandala art. At the moment I am doing one at least every day. When I was away with my friend Cath at the weekend we were both having a go at every chance we got!
It was amazing to see how different her creations were to mine. Mine tend to be very contained and busy and hers were always more free and spaced out. It was great to discuss and reflect on how different we were. It is a great tool to raise self awareness.
The shapes can be anything you like. One guide that I read said that you should really pause between each round of drawings and simply wait to see what comes to you. Then at the end of the Mandala you will be left with a message. This is the universe communicating with you! And you getting to know yourself better. WOW.
Whatever you chose to believe, just the act of doing the Mandala is a great exercise to chill you out. A period of calm and creativity works wonders for a busy mind. Get it down on paper and it clears some head space for sure!
Have a go today and see how you feel a little lighter.
