Tonight I invited Mum and Dad round for tea and they had my sister’s children in tow. So, there were seven of us including the three children. I didn’t do things by halves, there was lots of dinner and lots of pudding and of course, lots of clearing up.
It got me thinking…To some people doing all of this after a day at work would seem like madness! I really did set myself up of for a lot of extra work when I could have flopped on the sofa a lot sooner. Why do a quiet meal for the three of us when I could more than double the job!?
The answer, because I love doing it! Noah was delighted that his cousins could come, he always loves a family party! Mum and Dad were pleased to have a meal prepared for them after a day of babysitting.
Everyone was hungry and grateful. They ate lots and enjoyed everything that I had cooked, so I was cheerful even as I stacked the dishwasher at the end of the meal. My good mood seemed to rub off on everyone, we were all happy and had a lovely time together.
It got me thinking about how important motivation is. If you do things because you really want do them even the most mundane of jobs becomes enjoyable. Things tend to go well when you are enjoying yourself because your enjoyment almost becomes contagious.
Keeping this in mind when you make plans about how to spend your time could transform your life. Think about others. Think about who you want to help. Focus on what you can do to make someone else life better. Make the happiness of other a priority. Being kind hearted is a win win situation. You feel good, they feel good, it really seems to be the perfect route to happiness!
